I would like to bring to your attention a new campaign started by some students at University of Hong Kong (HKU) called ‘Romancing the Border’ which tries to improve ties between India and Pakistan. This initiative is the subsidiary of iPakistan, an initiative which aims to break stereotypes about Pakistan and Pakistanis globally. We’re a multicultural group of students but we all strive for the same goal: rebrand Pakistan’s image and hence also improve India-Pakistan relations. We do so by increasing communication and providing objective information about the country and its people.

Personally, my interest in Pakistan was sparked off after I had the opportunity to play cricket against the Pakistan Women’s Cricket Team. I remember telling an exchange student about it and the first question he asked me was “Are they even allowed to play cricket in the Middle East?”
For some reason, he thought that Pakistan is in the Middle East and all women wear abayas and are not allowed to play cricket there.
Stereotyping, although naive in this case, potentially can be very dangerous. It’s exactly because of people like this that I think it is important to educate by providing people with unbiased information so they can better understand each other rather than just relying on mainstream media. ‘Romancing the Border’ hopes to get Indians and Pakistanis to understand each other better.

I wish, if I could visit India and meet the family member of the person, who saved our life from “some miscreants” in Aug. 1947.
At the time of partition in 1947, “some miscreants” provoked others community to take revenge [of their miseries] from Muslims living in India,.
My Nana (Grand father] who has a general store at Chaukrata and live at Kalyana near Dehradun (now Uttrakhand). At that time I was 5 years old living in Kalyana along with my mother, Nana and elder brother Saeed ( 11-years old). Saeed Bhai use to play with kids and one of them told my brother that sooner or later, “some miscreants” would attack the Muslim’s home in Kalyana. My brother told the story to my Nana, but he did not believe him, as he has good relations with all the other communities living in that area.
Anyhow, on 13th Aug., 1947, a Hindu neighbor [living parallel to our home] visited my Nana and confirm the same plan, and requested him to shift to his home. That Noble person assured to protect our life. Thanks God, my Nana believed him and we shifted to his home.
Next morning, when we woke up, we saw a Kashmiri Muslim old man, and his 3- very beautiful daughters were killed in the same area. The pages of Holy Quran were scattered in the street. Later, the army arrived in that “Mohalla” and shifted remain Muslims to a Refugee Camp in Dehradun (now Uttrakhand).
After few days, we reached to our Nana’s native home at Roorkee (District Saharanpur). In Roorkee, it was majority of the Muslims and remain safe and sound. Later,most of my relatives migrated to Pakistan just after 1947, but my Nana (who loves the place of his “Purkhoon”) did not like to migrate and he died in Roorkee. [Allah may bless the departed soul].
I use to visit Sabri Sahib Tomb and use to attend the “Urs” close to Roorkee every year and still remember of taste of “Gular” planted at his tomb.
[I was born in Delhi (near Pahar Ganj) on 20th Aug. 1942, when I was 4 years old, shifted to my Nana home at Roorkee. Got my elementary education – up to 4th grade in Hindi language. At that time, the schooling was compulsory for every child of age 6. The books and copies were provided free of cost and there was no school fee. There were Hindu and Muslim teacher at the school there
I don’t know if any of the member of the Noble Hindu living at the same place in Kalyana, but I have very sharp memory. Its my last wish to pay my gratitude to the family who saved us. I do pray for their health, wealth and prosperity. Allah may shower all His blessings upon them.

Dear Sir or Madam:
In media, in Parliament and at other political discussions the Indians are never tired of swearing by inclusive growth but how it is being systematically denied to the economically humble majority of Indians and how it can be rectified is given below:-
(1)- It should surprise every one that how ‘Time Deposits’ (popularly known as Fixed Deposits and is the savings of the rich) since Independence in the Socialist (as per Constitution) India has increased. This aberration of Socialism should be rectified by Members of Parliament (who swear by inclusive growth) by legislating ‘Saving Tax Law’.
(2)- As per RBI data on ‘Components of Money Stock’ the Time Deposits in 1955, 1960, 1970, 1980, 1990, 2000, 2011, 2012 are in Crores (Ten Millions) 424, 1163, 3103, 27226, 149890, 782378, 4863979, and estimated 5751485 respectively which are about 4, 8, 8, 24, 33, 43, 63 and 67 percent of GDP respectively. The capitalists of Western World should marvel at and can be genuinely envious of the genius of Indian political class, who kept Haves of India growing richer & richer continuously in Socialist India, at the cost of its Have-nots.
(3)- This aberration of Socialism can be corrected if Members of Parliament legislate ‘Saving Tax Law’, which will not only be in accordance with distributive justice but will also provide immense investment and government revenue which both are so desperately needed by India, if it has to remain a viable & growing economy of 1.2 billion people.
(4)- As per this proposed ‘Saving Tax Law’ the savings minus investment in economically productive assets should be taxed in increasing slabs such that the ‘Saving Tax’ will be increasingly more on higher slabs. This will provide immense investment for the Indian economy because this ‘Saving Tax’ will give incentive to these Savers to invest in economically productive assets rather than give tax to government (if kept as ‘Time Deposit’).
(5)- In a nutshell there will be no ‘Saving Tax’ if saving is invested in legally recognized economically productive assets.
(6)- There is logic and justice too in this ‘Saving Tax’. If ‘excess income’ can be taxed by ‘Income Tax’ then there is no reason why in the interest of the economically humble majority of citizens in a ‘Welfare State’, the ‘excess savings’ cannot be taxed by ‘Saving Tax’ – by way of legitimately boosting the investment and government revenue in the economy of the country.
Let us hope that the Members of Parliament will rise to occasion and will bring legislation for ‘Saving Tax’ as mentioned above in the coming session of the Parliament.

In India, our economic policies are made aiming to achieve certain objectives at a given period, wheather it is the annual budget or a five year plan. This is not enough. We should have a wider economic policy considering the overall growth of the country with the objective of where we want to stand after 20yrs,50 yrs or after 100 years. This long term economic policy should be prepared taken in to account all section of our society ie rich, poor, farmers, fishermen, workers, landless labourers, weavers, present cottage and small scale industries in India etc. etc.
Corruption,black money and price rise are ruining our economy. Unless we distory these worms, our economy will not survive.
The Youth Leaders in India and the political parties should think alike for the betterment of the people of this country instead of themself and their families.

If the Union Government thinking about the splitting of Andhra Pradesh,It is better way to split as four states namely
1)ANDHRA 2)RAYALASEEMA 3)TELANGANA and
4) UNION TERRITORY containing of the Twin Cities i.e.
